PRIVATE LESSONS

OVERVIEW
Private lessons are great for those who want to take breaking a bit more seriously. You will get more focused attention, coaching, and feedback. Although training is a bit more intense, I'm there with you throughout each step of the way to make sure you progress as much as possible.

For private lessons, I only do in-person lessons because I genuinely believe in building a strong and meaningful connection between the teacher and the learner. Breaking is more than just moves; it's all about being part of a larger culture and community. In breaking, you use your moves to connect and communicate with others. Simply put, it's just waaay better to learn breaking in person.
LOCATION
There are three location options for private lessons.
Southbank is open to train from 10:00 ~ 17:30 in the Cloakroom Foyer only when there aren't events happening. You can find the monthly event schedule posted here. You’ll find people there practicing all kinds of activities, from dance, circus, and other creative arts. The floor is a hard tile floor, which is fine for breaking, very smooth, and relatively clean.

2. The Crossing at King's Cross
The Crossing, located by King's Cross, is a large atrium open year-round to the public that acts as both a walk-through and a recreation space. It is often used by students and various dance groups to practice dance, and there are even two ping pong tables there free to use. The surrounding area is diverse, and includes a variety of trendy restaurants, cafes, shops, company offices, as well as the beautiful Granary Square and Regent's Canal.

3. Cable St. Dance Studio
If you prefer a more private location for the lesson, another option is Cable St. Dance Studio. Students are responsible for the studio hire fee.

TEACHING STYLE
In terms of my teaching style, this is usually how I like to teach.
-
demonstrate the move at full speed
-
demonstrate the move at half-speed
-
break the move down into its smallest, individual parts
-
practice the move at half-speed
-
slowly increase speed
-
add various dance and stylistic techniques
-
practice expanding the move and adding creativity
-
combine it with your overall dance style

In general, I take a very holistic approach to dance. This means that I incorporate what I have learned from different disciplines, such as fitness, health, music (I'm also a musician and singer-songwriter), history, nutrition, and even my academic background in psychology (my major in university).
TARGET LEVEL
I welcome all skill levels. My main language is English, but I can also speak a bit of Japanese (N3) and Cantonese (conversational).

I suggest bringing the following:
